Welcome to the southwest corner of Michigan, home to lakes, dunes and white sandy beaches, quiet woodlands and farms.

Chikaming Open Lands is a non-profit conservation organization working with landowners in the Galien River watershed and southwest Berrien County to preserve open space and the diverse, natural character of the area.

Our Purpose

Chikaming Open Lands seeks to preserve the natural, scenic, and agricultural lands of southwest Berrien County and the surrounding areas by acquiring land and conservation easements through donation or purchase. Chikaming Open Lands fosters an appreciation of the local environment through education and through the involvement of the community in the issues and techniques of land preservation and habitat restoration.

It has been an exciting year thus far and the improved tax incentives have helped further our conservation goals and bring good value to our donors. We look forward to working with you to protect your land, preserve the local heritage and create a legacy for the future.
