Please join our effort to protect the natural habitats of the Galien watershed. The continued development of this area is applying pressure to the remaining open spaces and to the viability of native plants and wildlife. Once gone, we lose the character of these lands forever.

Let's preserve that which we find so appealing for future generations to enjoy.

Membership

COL's work is supported by its member base. Most of our members make unrestricted annual cash gifts to support our operating budget. Individual memberships start at $25. With this charitable contribution you will be added to our mailing list for special event notification and will receive the Chikaming Legacy newsletter, our annual report, and other special mailings. Members also receive free or reduced admission to COL events.

Chikaming Open Lands is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. All gifts to COL are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Larger contributions are welcomed and appreciated. You can join/donate through Paypal or by mail (see below for more information).

Additional Forms of Support

There are many ways to support Chikaming Open Lands. Memberships are usually paid in cash, but larger donations to our Major Gift Program are often paid by gifts of appreciated securities or by donations from previously established charitable foundations. If you would like to know more about making gifts of securities, please contact our office.

Membership Gifts: Honorariums & Memorials

COL has received numerous donations as memorials directed by families who have lost a loved one. COL has benefited from creative members who have asked family or friends to send a donation to COL in lieu of a wedding, birthday, or anniversary gift. Giving in these ways is a lasting reminder of your thoughfulness. People who make these types of gifts will also receive the newsletter, invitations to special events, and be kept up to date on COL happenings.

Matching Gifts

If your employer matches gifts, you can increase the benefit to land trusts and conservation. Check with your employer for details.

Gifts of Securities

Donors may give contributions to us in the form of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. When you make a gift of securities directly to COL, you may avoid certain kinds of taxes, such as capital gains. COL would be glad to discuss the possibility of bequest gifts, large and small, from donors in their wills and personal trusts. If you are interested in exploring ways to establish a bequest, please contact our office.
