Yoga on the Preserve

Take time for you while benefiting from an outdoor yoga class under the covered pavilion at Chikaming Township Park and Preserve. COL has partnered with Chikaming Township Parks and yoga instructor Deirdre Guthrie of Spore Studios to bring a spring and summer yoga series. Join us on the second Tuesday of April, May, June, July and August while Deirdre leads an one-hour yoga session to help with energy, strength and flexibility while enjoying the natural world.
Class Description: The Slowflow classes are a fusion of qigong warmups, breathwork, and both yin (cooling) and yang (heating) postures. We build our strength and cardiovascular capacity by linking “holding” yoga postures with “flowing” vinyasa sequences. Yoga sequences incorporate core stability, hip and shoulder opening and spinal flexibility while qigong forms tends to be slow, circular, repetitive, and flowing. As we grow our awareness of our subtle anatomy and harness our bandhas (energy centers), our practice becomes lighter and brighter moving us closer to a state of “effortless action” (wuwei). All classes encourage cultivating a timeless Beginner’s Mind.
Location: Yoga classes will be held at Chikaming Township Park and Preserve under the covered pavilion.
Registration: Registration is required and each class is limited to 15 people. Registration is needed for each yoga session.
Cost: The cost is $15 per person per session.
Please bring: Yoga mat, water bottle and mask.
Mask will only be required before and after yoga classes, masks are not required during yoga practices.
